MELBOURNE RISING - S11

The documentary Melbourne Rising is a video compile of footage from SKA TV volunteers and other independent video makers.

Since it's release in late September 2000, Melbourne Rising has been screened/broadcast in Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA.

It also featured on numerous film festivals all across Australia, as well as in Korea and India.

January 2001 marked the centenary of the Federation of Australia, when colonies became the states and territories of the nation.

This film looks at local community and national identity in Australia one hundred years after federation.

This documentary was produced by the SKA TV Youth Training Project which trained 10 young people from the Melbourne Ports area in video production.

Global Insights 3 is a compilation of short documentaries featuring the struggles for indigenous rights, democracy and environmental justice which are re-shaping the world.
