WORK IN PROGRESS

The video by Neil Pike and John Seed introduces the Rainforest Information Centre formed out of the Terania protests in 79. In 20 years RIC volunteers have protected millions of acres of forest from Ecuador to Siberia. Two such projects are visited. "Cutting Down the Trees to Save the Forest" looks at RIC's work in PNG where they received funding from the Australian Council of Churches and the Australian Government Aid Agency for projects that protected over a million acres of rainforest. "Reweaving Shiva's robes" shows RIC volunteers rehabilitating the sacred mountain Arunachala and creating the biggest tree nursery in the south of India in temple grounds. (India + New Guinea)
